Applied Behavioral Assessment
In order to replace or reduce the onset of inappropriate behaviors, we use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methods to address a wide range of behaviors and social skills. Through the use of different strategies, our goals are:

-
Increase on-task behavior, social interactions, and communication skills
-
Development of self-control and self-monitoring methods in order to acquire job-related skills
-
Acquisition of adaptive daily living skills such as toileting, hand washing, and tooth brushing
-
Decrease and replace challenging behaviors (e.g. physical aggression, self-injurious behaviors, fights) with more appropriate behaviors
Some of the teaching methods used at Bright Futures Academy include:
-
Discrete trial training
-
Incidental teaching
-
Prompt fading procedures
-
Task analysis
-
Video modeling
-
Self-monitoring
-
Small group instruction
